Bury Street
Minutes:
20th October was 1st
consultation, local press release, distribution of 2,000 leaflets,
local shops.
175 residential, affordable accommodation, maybe 5 stories high. High quality family housing.
60% council, 40% private company. All
council owned. Perhaps all for rent.
New way of generating income for
council. Much needed housing. 3 more
stages of consultation.
Comments:
a. Live opposite, seen nothing about this, no leaflets.
b. They will prefer to keep these houses for revenue, council
owned, rather than sell at affordable rates.
c. Don't want the estate to overlook children playing.
d. Traffic times already at a standstill. Extra
175 + cars all exiting onto Bury Street West Parking and congestion
problem.
e. Detlev comments that loan will be repaid by revenue from
flats.
f. Route for emergency services.
g. Hospitals, school places, all facilities are already
stretched.
h. New buildings will be much higher and not in keeping with the
area.
I. Will be used mainly for social housing.
j. Have a listed 17th century building Salisbury House with a
listed Wall which will be endangered with damage.
The design team, have they taken these matters on board?
Was the asked question.
