Waddington Close - Painting of Double Yellow Lines

We the undersigned petition the Council to Paint double yellow lines through the entirety of Waddington Close EN1

Non residents are using Waddington Close for high street and commuter parking. As a result, Waddington Close is continuously missing refuse collections, deliveries and we are concerned for the residents health and safety because in the event of an emergency ambulances and fire engines, these vehicles will not be able to access the areas required and this could result in a fatality.

This Petition ran from 13/02/2017 to 27/03/2017 and has now finished.

Council response

Thank you for your petition, in which you ask that we consider providing further double yellow lines in Waddington Close. In response to your petition, I am pleased to advise that we have agreed to asses and investigate your request further. This work will commence shortly.

Once we have prepared our initial proposals, we will write to you again to advise you of the next steps. Where we intend to provide new, or make changes to existing parking restrictions, we have a statutory duty that requires us to advertise and consult on those proposals.

As part of the consultation process, leaflets will be delivered to residents of Waddington Close, while public notices will be placed in the local press and will be mounted on lamp columns in the affected area. There will then be a 21 day period in which any person has the opportunity to view and comment on those proposals.

Any proposal we put forward, will be subject to the outcome of this consultation. Should there be a positive outcome, we will seek to introduce the new restrictions at the earliest opportunity. However, should objections be raised, we may be required to report our findings to the Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, who will then make a final decision to approve or reject our proposals.

For this reason, I would be unable to guarantee that your request will be met in full. Should your request not be approved, details and reasons for that decision can be made available at request.

While the process can take some time to complete, please be assured that we will provide updates when available. Should you require any further information in the meantime, please feel free to contact Senior Engineer, Craig Goug on 020 8379 3566.

Sent to lead petitioner on 13 February 2017.
