Council response

response to lead petitioner 23/7
It is unlikely that the Council will take further the request of creating a new entrance to the Broomfield School site in order to reduce the temptation amongst parents who drive pupils there to park in Seafield Road. The Council already has the powers and the parking restrictions in place to deter this activity, and greater enforcement activity offers are far swifter and less costly remedy than embarking upon the exercise of trying to agree and fashion a new entry point.

You will no doubt appreciate that with over ninety schools in the borough and limited Civil enforcement officers, it would not be possible to have continuous patrols at this location. However your request has been added to the Parking Enforcement Response Unit list, which directs the Parking Contractor to areas with parking problems on a weekly basis.

I will also request that visits are made by the CCTV enforcement vehicle, if any vehicles are seen in contravention of the Traffic Management Act 2004 will be issued a penalty charge notice.

With regard to the request for permits to be issued to residents, the mapping below confirms that all homes within Seafield Road already benefit from inclusion in the Arnos Grove CPZ. Consequently residents already have the option of applying for permits, which can be done via our website or by calling 020 8379 6406.
