We are the residents of Arnos Grove, London, who are being heavily penalised unfairly due to the council's recent changes to our parking regulations. From Monday to Sunday, we are now being subjected to controlled parking from 8am to 7.30pm, an increase from the previous 11am-12pm. Furthermore, the cost of visitors' permits is soaring, and we are deprived of free parking availability due to the removal of free parking bays.
The real sting lies in the council's proposed terms on daily visitation. Friends and family now require two tickets for a day-long visit. This is oppression. It feels like an exploitation of our community spirit, our openness to welcome loved ones into our home.
This significant change to our living conditions is happening as a direct result of increased residential developments within Arnos Grove that fails to account for their parking needs. It's clear the council are cashing in on the closure of the local station's car park and looking to generate revenue from visitors to our area.
We are deeply concerned not only for the burden this brings to everyday residents but also the impact it has on the vibrancy and sense of community that makes Arnos Grove the unique neighbourhood we all love and cherish.
Please join us in asking the council to revise the recent changes, reconsider the extension of controlled parking hours, and fairly distribute residential parking permissions for both new and long-term inhabitants. It is high time for the authorities to listen to the concerns of their constituents. Londoners deserve a fair, equitable, and sustainable parking system that serves all residents well. Arnos Grove deserves better. Sign our petition
