The decision to move to fortnightly bin collections has caused
numerous problems for Enfield residents, including:
1. Increased fly-tipping: Overflowing bins leave residents with no
option but to dump excess rubbish in public areas, creating an
eyesore and environmental hazard.
2. Dirty streets: Overflowing bins contribute to rubbish
accumulating in public spaces, making the borough appear neglected
and unpleasant.
3. Public health concerns: The accumulation of rubbish has
attracted more rats and other pests, worsening hygiene and health
risks for residents.
4. Strong odors: Bins left uncollected for two weeks result in bad
smells, especially during warmer weather.
5. Unfair bin collection refusals: Families struggling to manage
waste are forced to leave full bin bags beside trees or public
spaces. These are often refused collection by bin workers, further
worsening the issue.
Weekly bin collections would help address these issues by:
• Keeping streets clean and reducing fly-tipping.
• Improving hygiene and reducing pest infestations.
• Supporting families to manage their waste effectively.
• Restoring pride in our community and improving the quality
of life for residents.
We urge the council to act now and reinstate weekly bin collections for the benefit of all Enfield residents.
