Council response

Response sent 9/11/17 to Lead Petitioner
In response to the request to convert the green space at Deansway N9 in to a parking area. We have investigated this by visiting the area and identifying what has been described in the petition.

Neighbourhood Officer Chris Ekwonna visited on 8th November and door knocked all of the relevant properties that may be affected by such change to glean their views.

He studied the area and was clear that the changes proposed would not make a large difference to residents parking their cars as they would still have to exit the area as they do now and follow a path around the green area to reach the back of the space which is where their homes are located.

There is parking available on Deansway including disabled parking provision which I am informed is sufficient for residents needs. For these reasons and to continue to protect green spaces we would not feel that it would be appropriate to make such changes to the greenspace at this time. Whilst this may not be the outcome that residents were seeking, these proposed changes would not resolve any of the issues raised. Mr Ekwonna did speak to a number of residents regarding this and explained the circumstances why these changes are not a viable option.
