Bharat Ayer (Development Manager) invited the Board for any questions and discussion.

 

Q.

What percent are relatives/friends neglecting people?

 

A.

320 out of 1616 incidents are connected to family members/partners.

 

Q.

How often do inspections of care homes take place?

 

A.

Every 6 weeks, social services all meet regarding the concerns data, if a care home has a bad rating, regular visits take place. If a care home has a good rating every 2 years there is an inspection.

 

Q.

Do you have enough funding to take on the proposed strategy?

 

A.

Money has always been an issue within this sector, but we do get contributions from the Met police, Fire services and NHS.

 

A Consultation on Enfield’s Safeguarding Adults Strategy 2018 - 2023 was then circulated, consultation deadline 31st August 2018.

Kelly Brown (Victim Support Manager) invited the Board for any questions and discussion.

 

Q.

A question was asked whether the volunteers are given training

 

A.

Yes, every volunteer is given training, further extensive core training available after gaining more experience in the field.

 

Q.

Are they all DBS checked?

 

A.

Yes, this is a statutory requirement.

 

Q.

How many volunteers in the Borough and how do you support your volunteers?

 

A.

Enfield has very low numbers at present, there is a high turnover of volunteers once experience is gained. At present, 5 volunteers working alongside staff members.

Wellbeing support is every 6 weeks (one to one) also accompanied with an employee assistant programme.

Have you got any specific Enfield statistics?

 

A.

Not at present as the presentation only incorporated London based statistics, but will bring up to date Enfield statistics at the next meeting.

 

Q.

Are the volunteering roles being advertised?

 

A.

Yes we are using indeed, Just Do It and other external advertisements, also being advertised at Enfield volunteering events.

 

Q.

How many hours do the volunteers work?

 

A.

Minimum 2 hours a week.

 

Q.

What is the age requirement to become a volunteer?

 

A.

18 years plus is required to work and 16 years plus to partake in events
