To elect the deputy Mayor of the Council for the municipal year 2021/22. 

Councillor Nesil Caliskan proposed and Councillor Stewart seconded the nomination of Councillor Christine Hamilton as the new deputy mayor.

Councillor Nesil Caliskan was pleased to nominate Councillor Christine Hamilton, a councillor who had served the people of Enfield for many years.

The Conservative Group and the Community First Group stated that they could not nominate Christine Hamilton as she felt that she had too recently been Mayor and that someone else should have had the opportunity.

AGREED that Councillor Christine Hamilton be elected as the Deputy Mayor of the London Borough of Enfield, for the 2020/21 municipal year.

To elect the deputy Mayor of the Council for the municipal year 2020/21. 

Councillor Nesil Caliskan proposed and Councillor Dinah Barry seconded the nomination of Councillor Christine Hamilton as the new deputy mayor.

Councillor Nesil Caliskan was pleased to nominate Councillor Christine Hamilton, a councillor who had served the people of Enfield for many years, had a strong track record and was a good friend.   

Councillor Joanne Laban stated that she could not nominate Christine Hamilton as she felt that she had too recently been Mayor and that someone else should have had the opportunity.

Councillor Barry added that, although she shared some of Councillor Laban’s reservations, she was happy to second the nomination, as she felt that Christine Hamilton would make an excellent Deputy Mayor. 

AGREED that Councillor Christine Hamilton be elected as the Deputy Mayor of the London Borough of Enfield, for the 2020/21 municipal year.

The nomination was agreed, after a vote, with the following result:

For:  45

Against:  0

Abstentions:  17

To elect the deputy Mayor of the Council for the municipal year 2019/20. 

Councillor Nesil Caliskan proposed and Councillor Joanne Laban seconded the nomination of Councillor Sabri Ozaydin as the new deputy mayor.

Councillor Caliskan welcomed the distinguished guests and said that she was pleased to nominate Sabir Ozaydin, a councillor who had been elected in 2018, had worked to support the people of Turkey Street and had many plans for the future. 

Councillor Laban in seconding the nomination hoped that he would have a good year. 

AGREED that Councillor Sabri Ozaydin be elected as the Deputy Mayor of the London Borough of Enfield, for the 2019/20 municipal year.

Councillor Ozaydin then made and signed a declaration of acceptance of office and was invested with the badge of office by Councillor Anolue, the new Mayor. 

He thanked members for nominating him and said that he would try his best to serve everyone in Enfield and would try to make a difference. 

To elect the deputy Mayor of the Council for the municipal year 2018/19. 

Councillor George Savva proposed and Councillor Susan Erbil seconded the nomination of Councillor Kate Anolue as the new deputy mayor. 

Councillor Laban, Leader of the Opposition, said that she would gladly support the nomination as she knew her well including as a champion of women’s issues and that she thought that she would be a good ambassador in the post. 

AGREED that Councillor Kate Anolue be elected as the Deputy Mayor of the London Borough of Enfield, for the 2018/19 municipal year.

The motion was agreed unanimously. 

Councillor Anolue then made and signed a declaration of acceptance of office and was invested with the badge of office by Councillor Karakus, the new Mayor.
