BURY LODGE DEPOT

Minutes:

Mo Lias - Update  on Housing Development at Bury Lodge Depot- This is still in the design phase, working with key stakehoders; the GLA, and the Planning Authorities.

The planning proposal will be presented late summer – it is now down to 70-100 dwellings
A resident asked about the foundations of Salisbury House with concerns about building too close and asked what type of properties were planned. He raised  traffic concerns-  Bury Street West is very busy at 5pm -overflow parking is going to be an issue
Mo responded to the points by saying that the properties will be a mix of 2/3/4 bed flats and houses (flats up to 4 storeys) -  designs have not been finalised yet -and confirmed that Section 106 funding will be applied for in relation to parking issues. Another resident raised concerns about increased parking when the new primary School increases its intake in September 2015.  Another resident spoke and welcomed the proposed development, saying that he lives in a similar one  and hopes that there will be only 1 car space per house. He asked if there would be electric car points and bike spaces. Mo responded by saying yes to both points and stressed that sustainability and ecological issues were uppermost in the development plans. Solar panels and various other Again, congestion , car parking and traffic at the BSW traffic lights with A10 were raised as concerns. Also the local issue of the Crawley Rd junction during peak times was raised. No recreational facilities were planned on site and this was considered by many residents to be a wasted opportunity as current facilities in Bury Lodge Gardens, particularly for teenagers, are insufficient.

Other residents commented that the Council website relating to the development do not contain plans or artists impressions and that these would be useful, that air quality and noise pollution need to be considered, that road safety issues were a concern to local residents and that providing housing elsewhere should be considered.

Mo Lias confirmed that Sheltered Housing units were currently being considered for the site and that all properties would be rentable – with 40% offered at “Affordable Rent”.

LOCAL POLICE REPORT

Minutes:

PCSOs  reported on crime in Bush Hill Park.

Crime has reduced in every  area except for crimes which involve injury - these are the majority of calls currently - an extra 4 over the past year. There are 2 new PCSOs in BHP. The current target area is BHP train station - individuals have been identified - Next Step Support is in the area and they do a good job - they support people with mental health issues - they are doing a good job but there are still significant issues – The organisation is both offering support and targeting individual clients who are causing problems for locals.  One individual  has been evicted – a harassment warning has been issued. If she comes back she can be arrested. Other individuals have been targeted. 30 statements have been taken from residents and shop keepers over the last few weeks Criminal Behaviour Orders are being sought for some individuals – This relates to St Marks Rd.

Car crime - there was a theft from the Leighton Rd Co op this evening. The offenders were stopped and arrested. The police hope to charge them once CCTV footage has been examined.

Local police officers will be heavily involved with the safety aspect of the new Bury Street West Depot housing project – patrolling CCTV etc
Burglaries – The police will ensure they contact everyone on a street where a burglary has happened. Mix of plain clothes and uniform. They have adopted a zero tolerance approach to crime.

Crime and illegal parking around the Sainsburys Local was raised by residents. Cash machine fraud has been a problem recently at local ATMs. Officers were thanked for their time and commitment.

Wetlands /SUDS Scheme – Situated behind the BSW Housing Development.
John Bryden and Jamie Karkadia (Thames 21) introduced the project - it will prevent further building on the site. Salmons Brook has issues with water quality - it can be an example site to filter the water before it gets to Salmons Brook - might be an opp to offset our environmental impact from working on the river.

Residents raised concerns about safety, fencing, depth of water, filtering capabilities, links to Cycle Enfield routes,  pollution from the A10, cost of maintenance and links to the housing development. The issue of a linking bridge was raised with some considerable concern.

BUSH HILL PARK TRAIN STATION

Minutes:

A report from Sam Russell, Stakeholder and Community manager, LOROL (London Overground Rail Operations Ltd) was taken by the meeting and explained by one of our residents. TFL contracted LOROL to run the London Overground network on behalf of TLF from 31st May 2015. BHP station will be gated by Sept - this will cut down fare evasion . and means that more money will be invested. LOROL have a good record on other lines that have been taken over  - more trains, improved and staffed stations, better connections, freedom passes will be usable at any time.
