BURY LODGE WETLANDS AREA

Minutes:

Archaeological report on the archaeological investigation into the Bury Lodge Wetlands area adjacent to the Bury Street West proposed Housing project. Council officer presenting was Ian Russel and Martin Dearne, Greater London Archaelogical Assessment Service, GLAAS, in charge of the archaeological investigation.

 

The contractors are on site. Although there is a known history of a large Roman settlement in those areas nothing significant has been found. There will be planting. The Wetlands will play a major part in stopping flooding. Eventually habitat will be created for diverse wildlife. Ian Russel left details of the Bury Lodge and Firs Farm Wetlands.

RIDGE AVENUE LIBRARY

Minutes:

Changes to the Ridge Avenue Library. Council officer Kate Robertson, responsible for library services in the London Borough of Enfield, and West Lea school headmistress, Sue Tripp, and further representative. Single library card for all 17 libraries in the borough. 13 libraries will now run alongside a partner organisation run mainly by volunteers. Staff from Edmonton school partnerships may also be based at Ridge Avenue library. There will be work experience for the students of West Lea School as volunteers in Ridge Avenue Library. There will be events and exhibitions. They will seek to work with the library services. A coffee machine will be provided.

 

There will be changes to the space being used. The hours will change from Monday to Friday 8.30 - 6.30. Evening times are cut. Saturday's were also not going to be available but now The organisers have conceded to open on Saturday afternoons.

 

Kate Robertson also explained changes in the council's access systems and the re juggling of staff. All complaints will be dealt with by a team for each area of complaint. Also computerised for easier access to complaints.

Reported crime generally down. Burglaries up. Car crime down. School children committing robberies against other school children, down.

 

There is a persistent offender pretending to be a tree cutter targeting the elderly.
