update from the police

Minutes:

a.    There had been an outbreak of theft from vehicles around Winnington road, but following advice to commuters and an arrest this was diminishing.

b.    Several wards had collaborated to deal with speeding on the A10 and 70 fines had been issued last month. A driver would be prosecuted for driving at 108 mph in a 40 mph zone.

c.     They worked closely with other teams and the Council to deal with drugs and antisocial behaviour, and had concentrated on the Holly Road area in recent weeks following complaints. An arrest had been made for drug dealing.

d.    They would investigate complaints of nitrous oxide capsules being discarded in Bullsmoor Ride/Way.

32.

PRESENTATION BY CATS PROTECTION ON FREE NEUTERING AND TRANSPORT.

Minutes:

Carly Bradbury gave a presentation about their neutering project, copies of which will be circulated with these minutes.

33.

m25/a10 junction consultation

Minutes:

a.    Residents in the Bullsmoor area felt it was unreasonable that they have not been sent consultation letters, when a large distribution of leaflets was made in Cheshunt. They felt that the scheme would only lead to worse traffic and pollution problems in Turkey Street and that the council should accelerate proposals for the Northern Gateway Access Package.

b.    They asked that they should be stricter enforcement of the yellow box at the A10/Bullsmoor Lane junction.

34.

environmental, housing, estate and other issues of concern to residents

Minutes:

a.    Residents in the flats on the east side of Elsinge Road said that despite ramps having been constructed for the recycling bins the refuse teams were not collecting from the rear of the properties and insisted that bins were brought to the front.

b.    Parking restrictions in Turkey Street; the ward councillors reported that they had been informed that the yellow lines would be in place by the end of March. Residents mentioned that there was a problem of HGVs parked at the eastern end of Turkey Street causing obstruction.

c.     The residents of Bullsmoor Close were unhappy that the request for yellow lines on the junction with Bullsmoor Ride had been refused on the grounds that other schemes were higher priority. They asked for information about the position of this scheme in the priority list.

d.    24 Goodwood Avenue complaints were made about the state of this property with a large number of black bags in the garden.
