WELCOME APOLOGIES AND INTRODUCTIONS

Minutes:

Residents were welcomed to the meeting and the Councillors introduced themselves. Cllr Ozzie Uzoanya, the Associate Cabinet Member, for North East Enfield had sent his apologies.

10.

UPDATE FROM POLICE

Minutes:

The police were not able to attend due to commitments arising from the murder that morning in Edmonton.

Residents asked for an update on the SNT ward base in Freezywater. It was suggested that Police surgeries be held in the Library at the Ordnance Unity Centre.

11.

ENFIELD RESIDENTS PRIORITY FUND

Minutes:

The application for an educational project on Saturday mornings at Kempe Hall had been approved. Those for an Alleygate in Bullsmoor and for a pre-school breakfast club at St Georges had not.

The meeting thought well of suggestions for support for the Zumba class at Kempe Hall, which could help women and men to keep fit and active; and of support for youth work in the ward.

12.

BUDGET CONSULTATION

Minutes:

The Councillors gave a presentation on the budget pressures facing the Council. Residents noted that consultation had started about options for the library service; and that there would be a consultation on waste collection policies.

The Council was working hard to improve staff efficiency and productivity.

13.

ENFIELD HOMES ESTATE ISSUES

Minutes:

Residents expressed continuing concern about the waste disposal arrangements for the flats on Kempe and Elsinge. They asked that pressure be kept up on Enfield Homes and the Council to improve the arrangements so as to maximise recycling and minimise litter and flytips.

The arrangements for renting the new Community Hall in the Ordnance Unity Centre were not clear and should be notified to ward forum members.

14.

ENVIROMENTAL AND OTHER ISSUES OF CONCERN TO RESIDENTS

Minutes:

The waste bins outside the shops on Kempe Road were not being emptied daily and was often overflowing.

It was noted that space in the Turkey Street Car Park had been set aside for the Ordnance Unity Centre. Officers should be asked to keep this arrangement under review and report back to the next meeting.

Street cleansing was preceding, rather than following, bin rounds.

The refuse service to the Cocker Road flats should be reviewed to ensure that residents had access to mixed and food recycling and to avoid the refuse team having to borrow the wheeled bins from nearby houses to collect refuse bags. There was a fox problem in the area which was exacerbated by the use of bags.

Cllr Lemonides would follow up with officers the question of the damaged seat on Kempe green and report to the next CAPE meeting.

15.

WARD SURGERIES AND FORUMS

Minutes:

The regular surgery would continue to be held every Saturday 11.45 to 12.45am at Ordnance Road library; one week in four it would be taken by an Enfield Lock councillor.
