The Licensing Committee has been set up by Council
to:

To discharge and, as
may be determined, delegate all the functions of the Council as a
Licensing Authority under the Licensing Act 2003 excluding the
determination and review of the Council’s statement of
Licensing policy made under section 5 of the Licensing Act
2003.
- To create sub-committees to deal with these
delegated functions.
- To monitor and review the discharge of the
Council’s functions as a Licensing Authority.
- To make orders designating public
places in the Borough as places where the consumption of alcoholic
liquor is not permitted (Sections 12-16 Criminal Justice and Police
Act 2001 and the Local Authorities (Alcohol Consumption in
Designated Public Places) Regulations 2001).
It is made up of 15 members of the
Council.
Determining matters concerning the delegated
licencing functions is carried out by the Licensing Sub
Committee.
