The Full Council Meeting is the
central political focus of the whole Council and the co-ordinating
body for all elements of the political structure. It sets the
overall corporate direction, policy framework and financial limits
within which all operations and policies are carried
out.
The Council is made
up of all 63 elected councillors and meets 6 times a
year.
An Extraordinary
Council Meeting may be called at any time by the Mayor, by the
Council following a resolution to consider issues of importance to
the borough, the Chief Executive or by any five councillors if they
have signed a requisition presented to the Mayor and the Mayor has
refused to call a meeting or had failed to call a meeting within 7
days of the presentation of the requisition.
The business to be
carried out at an Extraordinary meeting shall be restricted to
those items referred to in the notice convening the meeting, unless
the Mayor decides otherwise.
