Enfield faces new and significant challenges
in meeting statutory duties and obligations under the Childcare Act
2006, and in meeting new government targets for nursery provision,
particular in providing places for up to 1,316 disadvantaged
two-year-olds from September 2013, and improving the take up rate
of the free entitlement for three- and four-year-olds.
In order therefore to increase the number of places available, it
is proposed that from September 2013, the nine Children Centres
nurseries in the borough change their model, providing
predominantly free entitlement funded places for two, three- and
four-year-olds and working with families with under 2’s to
secure places with other high quality providers within the
locality.
