KD 3859 Purchase of Road Compact Sweepers

The requirement is to purchase eight replacement machines of which the first specification is for five specialist pavement weight (2.6 ton GVW) sweeping vehicles to enable the Council to deliver cleaner streets including local footpaths. Three of these machines are also specified as multi-purpose units to meet a requirement to implement winter gritting of footways using existing grit spreading trailers and are to be fitted with weed spraying kit suited to seasonal weed spray of main roads across the borough, excluding trunk roads treated by TFL.
In addition three 4.5 ton sweeping vehicles are required to undertake residential area road channel sweeping and general surface sweeping.
