Dwelling houses have permitted development
rights allowing owners to carry out a range of development works
without planning permission. Such works can have a harmful effect
on the character or appearance of a conservation area. The Council
has already removed many of these permitted development rights in
its conservation areas by serving an Article 4 Direction.
There are currently 3 separate Article 4 Directions in place for Enfield Town Conservation Area. Approval is sought for changes to the Article 4 provision.
