It is proposed to increase the extent of
woodland in rural areas of Enfield, linking together existing small
fragmented pieces of woodland across the Enfield agricultural
portfolio. A subsidy package has been developed utilising external
bodies funding opportunities to offer a payment scheme to
compensate tenant farmers for land committed into woodland creation
to enable the creation of a sizeable, publicly accessible woodland
(60 – 100ha). Supplementary improvements to the public rights
of way alongside the woodland creation is being proposed to provide
benefits associated with amenity, biodiversity and reduced flood
risk.
